Fuji-Emergency Trip

🎉 Takoyaki party improvisation

At a takoyaki party in the research lab, Nakata-san suddenly suggests something:

"Let's go on a trip together! It's a good thing the weather's so nice."

As I watched their heated discussion, I realized that Nakata's computer screen was stuck on the haunted house screen.

"Zero, are you coming too? Fuji-Q Highland amusement park is very famous." Nakata asked.

"Oh, of course." I replied without knowing what was going on.

I agreed to go with them without knowing what Fuji-Q Highland was. What I didn't expect was that Nakata-san asked me to become a The person in charge of morning call.(Negative responsibility to get everyone up)

Day of departure - 4:30am Adventure

⏰ Morning Call Responsible for the mission of the man in charge

At 4:30 a.m., I confirmed on the LINE group that everyone was up and went to Machida Station to meet up with everyone.

LINE Group Messages::

Me (04:30): "Is everyone up?"
Nakata-senpai (04:32) : "I'm up ~ I'm sleepy ~"
Kida-senpai (04:33): "Already out the door!
Mr. Murata (04:35): "On my way, almost there!"

After the gathering, Ms. Nakata distributed a set of purchased tickets (Fuji-Q Highland Pass + round-trip bus) to each person. 7,000 yen(2016 prices).

💡 2025 update: The price of a package ticket from Shinjuku is 12,500 yen, which is subject to change depending on the place of departure and the season.

Fuji-Q Highland Direct Bus

With that, we took a dedicated bus directly to Fujikyu, and after interspersing chit-chat and sleep, we finally arrived at Fujikyu Paradise.

Trip Log::

  • 05:00 Departure
  • 05:30-06:30 Taking a nap
  • 06:30-07:00 Eat breakfast (rice balls bought at a convenience store)
  • 07:00 Arrive at Fujikyu Land

🏞️ Arrive at Fujikyu Paradise

Because of the fact that in the Arrive before the park opensWe waited at the entrance until 9 o'clock before admission began.

Entrance to Fujikyu Land

I didn't expect to see what I saw when I entered. A variety of superb roller coasters and thrilling amusement facilitiesThe

I asked in shock, having not done any homework at the time:

"Wait a minute, is Fujikyu Park a roller coaster?"

"Yeah, the most exciting roller coasters in the world are here! And the haunted house is also very famous!"

The others responded in unison. I was dumbfounded.

My Inner Monologue::

"I've never been on a roller coaster before, and when I went to an amusement park in the past, I only rode the carousel and bumper cars, and now I'm here to challenge the world-class roller coaster?"

😰 First Fears and Struggles

"If you're afraid to sit down, you can stay with me, because I get dizzy, too. Because I get dizzy too."

Mr. David was comforting.

But I've paid for it, so it's not worth it. Besides, it's hard for the seniors to ask me to come, so I feel like I'm spoiling their fun by not sitting down...

So, I pretended to be calm and said:

"Oh, it's okay. I've never been on a roller coaster, but I'll give it a try."

Mood at the time::

  • 😨 Super nervous, sweaty palms → 😅 Don't want to be a buzzkill, say yes → 🤔 Think, "I guess it won't be too scary..."

End of Trip - A Day to Remember

Happy times always go by so fast. Since the return bus ride was scheduled for 5:30 pmWe had to end the trip early.

Although I couldn't experience the scary haunted house due to maintenance, this day has become one of the best days of my life. The most relaxing and joyful dayI've challenged my fears and enjoyed the purest of pleasures.

Before I left, I bought a lot of souvenirs, some of which I was going to bring back to the lab to share with everyone, and some of which I was going to keep for my own memories.

Among them, the ones I treasure the most are those Memorial PhotosIt's really interesting to see the contrast between the moment when people are doing research and the moment when they are screaming. It's really interesting to see the contrast between the moment when you are doing research and the moment when you are screaming like crazy, and the moment when you are doing serious research.

Fuji-Q Highland Specialty/Souvenirs

💡 Interpersonal ExperienceThe researchers' activities are a great way to bring people closer together and to see a side of themselves that they would not normally see. The laboratory is not just a place to work, but also a place to build friendships.

Conclusion

This one-day trip to Fuji-Q Highland was not only a thrilling adventure, but also a breakthrough in self-growth. From "I've never been on a roller coaster before" to "I love thrills", I learned:

  • ✅ Courageous AttemptsDon't refuse just because you haven't tried, give yourself a chance!
  • ✅ Enjoy the moment: Let go of your fear, scream your heart out, and enjoy the thrill of weightlessness!
  • ✅ Cherish Friendship: The fun times we had with our lab partners are some of our most precious memories.

If you are going to Japan for study or travel, Fuji-Q Highland is highly recommended to be on your itinerary! There is no substitute for the sense of accomplishment of breaking through and the joy of screaming with your friends.

In the next post, I will share the experience of Tamagawa Fireworks Festival on the night of typhoon - a crazy decision to watch the fireworks even when typhoon is coming! Stay tuned!
