Chapter 3.3.1

Let's Have Fun!

In addition to studying hard, when you come to Japan, of course, you have to know Japan well, experience various Japanese cultures with your Japanese seniors, and travel to the mountains and water.

Fuji-Emergency Trip

At a takoyaki party, Nakata-san suggests that we all go on an outing together. Looking at the results of their discussion, it feels like an amusement park, and Nakata-san's computer screen is stuck on a haunted house screen.

"Zero, are you coming too? Fuji-Q Highland amusement park is very famous!" Nakata asked.

"Oh, of course." I replied without asking.

I agreed to go with them on a day trip to Fujikyu, and was asked by Nakata-san to be the person in charge of the morning call.

"Fujikyuハイランド" Files

This is a brief introduction to Fujikyu Hair Land.

Fujikyu Hidden is a Japanese theme park famous for its exciting roller coasters, located in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, near Mt. Instead of focusing on the overall atmosphere and cartoon characters like Disneyland, it specializes in a variety of high-thrill attractions and is especially famous for its world-class roller coasters.

Below are some of the features of Fujikyuハイランド:

  • High thrill rides: This is the main feature of Fujikyu Hair Land. There are many world-class roller coasters in the park, such as FUJIYAMA, EEEJANAIKA, and HIGH FLYER, which are famous for their thrilling and exciting designs, such as height, speed, and spins, and attract thrill-seeking tourists. The level of excitement of these facilities often exceeds the level of ordinary amusement parks.
    • FUJIYAMA (Mt. Fuji): It is known as the "King of Roller Coasters" because it has a maximum drop of 79 meters and a maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour. You can experience the thrill of the ride for a long time.
    • Dudumpa (dun pop):The world-class high-speed roller coaster reaches 180 kilometers per hour in just 1.56 seconds. It is a fascinating ride with a sense of extreme speed that explodes in an instant. (Closed in 2021 due to cases of broken bones among passengers)
    • Eejanaika (Eejanaika - Flip the Roller Coaster) The world's first four-dimensional roller coaster with seats that rotate 360 degrees. The unpredictable trajectory brings wonder and excitement.
    • High Flyer (High Flyer)A vertical roller coaster with a maximum swooping angle of 121 degrees. You can experience the feeling of free fall.
    • ZOKKON: For the new VR attractions to be added in 2023, visitors will be required to wear VR goggles to experience them. The high-definition VR images are synchronized with the seat movements, making you feel as if you are flying in the space of the universe, and enjoying a high sense of immersion.
    • (sth. or sb) else: Apart from these major roller coasters, there are other more exciting rides, as well as some facilities for children.
  • Terrorist facilities: Apart from roller coasters, Fujikyu Hairland also has many scary facilities such as haunted houses, which bring different scary experiences to visitors.
    • Terror Labyrinth: The world's largest haunted house is perfect for those seeking a scary experience. Long routes and realistic decorations are its specialties.
    • Optimistic Fortress: It is similar to the escape room game in Taiwan. The higher you go, the more difficult it is.
  • View of Mt. Fuji: The park is strategically located with a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji, adding a touch of natural beauty to the playground.
  • Relatively small scale: Compared to other large theme parks, Fujikyu Hairland is relatively small, so you can enjoy most of the facilities in one day.
  • The main clientele are young people: As the level of excitement of the facilities is relatively high, the main clientele is the young and thrill-seeking tourists.

All in all, Fujikyu Hair Land is a theme park for thrill seekers and adventurers. If you like thrilling rides and don't mind a smaller park, then Fujikyu Hairland is a good choice.

Day of departure

At 4:30am, I confirmed on the LINE group that everyone was up and went to Machida Station to meet up with everyone. After we gathered, Nakada-san handed out a set of tickets (Fuji-Q Highland Pass + round-trip bus) that each of us had already purchased for 7,000 yen (2016 price). We took a bus directly to Fujikyu, and after chatting and sleeping, we finally arrived at Fujikyu Land.

Inside the amusement park

As I arrived before the park opened, I waited until after 9:00am to enter the park, but I didn't expect to be greeted by all kinds of roller coasters and exciting rides.

I asked in shock, not having done any homework at the time:

"Wait, is Fuji-Q Highland a roller coaster park?"

"The most exciting roller coasters in the world are here, and the haunted house is also very famous."

The others responded in unison. I was dumbfounded. I had never been on a roller coaster before, and when I went to the amusement park before, I only rode the carousel and the bumper cars, and now I'm here to challenge the world-class roller coaster?

"If you're afraid to sit down, you can stay with me! Because I get dizzy too."

Mr. David comforted.

But I've paid for it, so it's not worth it. Besides, it's not easy for the seniors to ask me to come, so I feel like I'm spoiling their fun if I don't sit down...

So, I pretended to be calm and said:

"Oh, it's okay. I've never been on a roller coaster, but I'll give it a try."

I will always remember my first ride "ええじゃないか(Flip Roller Coaster)",which was a roller coaster where the whole body spins and sprints at the same time. There are "Horizontal Spinning of the Seat","Level Spinning of the Seat","Lead Spinning of the Seat","And "Full Spinning of the Seat",in short, which means that the seat is spinning, and your feet are suspended in the air, and so on. It's more scary than scary. When you return to the original point at the end of the ride, there is only a feeling of "eh?

Eejanaika - 4th Dimension Hypercoaster

I had one of the most fun days of my life, with the world's most feared roller coaster "King of Roller Coasters," a high-flying car, Japan's largest swing "Tekkobancho," and Japan's number one rolling water roller coaster "Cold Shot," which is guaranteed to make you soaked to the skin, and so on, and it was a lot of fun, and it kind of liberated me from my fear of roller coasters.

End of Trip

Time flies when you're having fun, and we had to end our trip early because the bus ride back to the haunted house was scheduled for 5:30pm. Although I was not able to experience the dreaded haunted house due to maintenance, it was the most relaxing and enjoyable day of my life, challenging my fears and enjoying the purest happiness.

Before I left, I bought a lot of souvenirs, some of which I was going to bring back to the laboratory to share with everyone, and some of which I was going to keep for my own memories. Among them, I treasured the souvenir photos the most. It's really interesting to see the contrast between the crazy screams of people who are usually working hard on their research and their other sides.
